Free MRB Disposition Log Template (AS9100D Clause 8.7 — Excel & CSV)
A free, audit-ready Material Review Board disposition log template covering all 5 AS9100D outcomes with mandatory sign-off columns, CAGE code fields, and customer concession tracking.
What Your MRB Disposition Log Must Contain Under AS9100D
A Material Review Board (MRB) disposition log is the primary audit evidence that your facility is controlling nonconforming outputs per AS9100D Clause 8.7. During a registrar surveillance visit, auditors will pull a sample of NCR records and verify the disposition log contains all mandatory fields.
Mandatory Columns in an AS9100D-Compliant MRB Log
Identity & Traceability
•
**Internal NCR Number** — immutable, sequential, never reused
•
**Customer NCR / SCAR Reference Number** — for prime contractor cross-referencing
•
**Supplier CAGE / NCAGE Code** — for aerospace supply chains servicing Govt Aerospace OEMs, Defence Enterprises, or Global Export Primes
•
**Part Number + Drawing Revision** — must match the as-released drawing on the production traveler
•
**Quantity Affected / Rejected**
Nonconformance Description
•
**Drawing Zone & Balloon Reference** — e.g., "Zone C-4, Balloon #18 — Bore Ø28.450 ±0.005 mm"
•
**Actual Measured Condition** — e.g., "Measured: Ø28.464 mm (+0.014 over upper tolerance)"
•
**Detection Point** — Incoming, In-Process, Final Inspection, NDT, Customer Return
•
**Safety / Airworthiness Impact Classification**
Disposition Outcome (One of 5)
•
**Disposition Type**: Use As-Is / Rework / Repair / Scrap / Return to Supplier
•
**Disposition Justification** — engineering rationale, not a one-word entry
•
**Design Authority Approval** — mandatory for Use As-Is and Repair; signature + date + employee ID
•
**Customer Concession Reference** — mandatory for customer-owned drawings (OEM-CONC-XXXX, CUST-WVR-XXXX)
•
**Scrap Destruction Witness** — mandatory for Scrap disposition; prevents bogus part re-entry
CAPA Linkage
•
**Linked CAPA Number** — required for recurring defects or systemic issues (AS9100D Clause 10.2)
•
**Repeat Occurrence Flag** — yes/no, with reference to prior NCR if yes
Why a Template Has Limits
A well-structured Excel template prevents the most common audit minor findings. However, it cannot:
•
Block a Use As-Is disposition from being saved without an Engineering sign-off (a registrar finding waiting to happen)
•
Automatically trigger the 30/60/90-day verification of effectiveness reminder
•
Generate a timestamped, immutable audit trail PDF in 30 seconds before a source inspection
This is exactly the gap POVRIS closes — the workflow enforcement that a spreadsheet structurally cannot provide.
